Hillary Clinton leaves office as the Secretary of State of the United States. She is being replaced by Senator John Kerry. Clintons last day was marred by yet another embassy bombing under her watch. During Senate and Congressional hearings Clinton admitted to not reading the cables from Ambassadors and diplomatic staff expressing their fears of grave danger and requesting immediate help for their safety. Those requests included those that led to the death of four including the United States Ambassador to Libia, the first time an Ambassador had been killed in over thirty years. Under Secretary Clinton there was seven successful attacks on United States Embassies.
We can hope that John Kerry has learned from the mistakes that were repeatedly made by his predecessor. John Kerry has much experience to bring to the table and feel that this is a good fit for him and the country. Having a male in this position will be received more favorably in countries such as in the middle east where women are looked down upon on so many levels.
We welcome the fresh approach and hands on attitude of our new Secretary of State John Kerry.
