To understand exactly what a wiki is and what it is not, one must understand the concept of a content management system sometimes known in the web field as an CMS for short. As complicated as the name may sound, content management systems or CMS’s,   are really quite a simple concept of online content management and information placement for research and cataloging purposes on a single or multiple subjects.

For the most part a Wiki, like a Wiki on the Author Carter Hargrave for example, has a biographical reference on the subject with an in depth history of said subject, and what this person or persons has done in the past.
